Waterloo Vikings stole the lead late in the game in a 4-2 victory over Western Reserve on Tuesday. The game was tied at two with the Vikings batting in the top of the tenth when Mason Duncan doubled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.
In the first inning, the Vikings got their offense started. Devon Beans singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Western Reserve tied things up at two. Western Reserve scored one run when S Phillips singled.
Tucker Brown earned the victory on the pitcher’s mound for Waterloo. Brown surrendered zero runs on two hits over four innings, striking out six and walking one.
N Cavalous took the loss for Western Reserve. He allowed one hit and two runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out two.
Noah Hughes started the game for Waterloo. The lefthander lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and two runs while striking out seven and walking one. N Nemi started the game for Western Reserve. The pitcher allowed seven hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out five and walking one
Waterloo collected nine hits. Devon Beans and Luke Simons each had multiple hits for Waterloo Vikings Varsity. Beans went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Waterloo on offense.
Western Reserve totaled 12 hits. Jake Pappagallo, J Buchman, Phillips, and Nemi all had multiple hits for Western Reserve. Pappagallo led Western Reserve with three hits in five at bats
